Submitted domains

When you submit a domain, ZoneInsight uses it to run DNS and RDAP registration lookups, build a report, and cache that report for a short period. Reports may include publicly available registration details, authoritative DNS records, email records, warning states, timestamps, and lookup status.

Cached reports

ZoneInsight caches reports for short periods so repeat checks return faster and place less load on public DNS and RDAP services. Cached reports are generated from public domain data and may be reused for later requests for the same domain until they expire or are refreshed.

Server logs

Standard web server logs may include request paths, IP addresses, user agents, response codes, timestamps, and timing information. These logs are used for operations, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.

Analytics

ZoneInsight uses Umami analytics to understand aggregate page usage. Analytics may receive normal request details such as page URL, referrer, browser, device type, approximate location derived from the request, and a coarse deployment tag when configured.

Operational counters

ZoneInsight keeps operational counters for request volume, response codes, API versus web traffic, active requests, and approximate unique visitors. Approximate visitor counts use salted hashes of IP address and user agent. These counters do not store raw IP addresses or raw user agents.

Cookies

ZoneInsight may set basic session and CSRF cookies for normal web behavior and abuse protection. You do not need an account to run a domain report.

Third-party lookups

DNS and RDAP checks query public DNS infrastructure, authoritative nameservers, and RDAP services. Those services may receive the domain being checked as part of normal lookup behavior.

Accounts and billing

ZoneInsight does not currently require accounts, teams, billing, alerts, or scheduled monitoring to use the public check page or JSON API.
